If you’re looking for a new job, this is a lesson I just learned the hard way and wanted to share.
Since January 2017, I’ve been trying to get a job in my field post-graduation. I’ve submitted 100+ applications. I hadn’t been contacted back by anyone. I was feeling like such a failure. I busted my ass to get two degrees, I did internships and temp jobs. I did everything, and none of it seemed to matter.
I found out a few days ago that out of the 79 applications still archived on Indeed under my “applied” section, SEVEN of the companies had bothered to view my applications.
I didn’t realize that Indeed notified you when someone viewed your app. I was filling out too many applications and couldn’t see far enough down the list to notice it had been marked as “viewed.”
All the temp jobs/internships I HAD been hired for were marked this way.
I filled out several applications directly on the company sites that day, and I’ve already been contacted by three separate employers.
This whole time, I’ve been wasting my effort, my time, and my energy. I guess these companies make the job listing on sites like Indeed because they have to, but don’t bother to check the applications unless they are submitted directly through the organization’s own site.
SUBMIT ALL JOB APPLICATIONS DIRECTLY THROUGH THE COMPANY’S DIRECT WEBSITE!
I really wanted to draw up some Pokemon Gijinkas, so I asked folks on twitter to tell me their fav pokes and I pulled from there~
Partially the more popular ones, partially ones I just thought were fun! Can you tell who is who?? (If you can’t, you can always just check the tags, lol))
the reason things like zack and cody and waverly place worked is because they were simple concepts that you could do a lot with. two twins live in a hotel. the same twins live on a cruise ship. wizards and other fantasy creatures exist in an urban setting. Nowadays Disney and Nickelodean sitcoms are all like ‘this family has a dog that can eat metal’ and they expect five seasons out of that.
